Tribo Brasil is one of the most active bands in the current cultural scene in Porto Alegre. Brings along itself a lyricism inspired by the urban scene, social criticism and everyday life chronicles, as well as concerns with the environment. Interested in the research and practice of Música Popular Brasileira – MPB (Brazilian Popular Music), the band plays genuinely Brazilian rhythms such as Samba, Baião, Frevo, Choro, Bossa Nova and Samba Rock.
The band's musical influences are as diverse as early 20th century songs to most contemporary sounds and musical movements. Tribo presents a post-modern tinge, blending the regional-Brazilian (guitar, chip, mandolin, tambourines) with a fusion of jazzy and rock arrangements (electric bass, semi acoustic guitar, drums and congas).
In a partnership with the Journalism course from IPA, the band has recorded the soundtrack of the “Base” documentary, which has been awarded in 2008's Festival of Gramado as the best Brazilian college movie. Additionally, the “Laiá Laiá” single and music video has also been produced in a partnership with the audio visual course from Unisinos.
In the beginning of 2012, Tribo Brasil released the “Sorriso Banguela” EP, which was mixed and mastered in the Monostereo studio, in Porto Alegre. The album has been very successful and has been bringing awards for the band: the “Sorriso Banguela” song has been selected for the regional phase of the 4th Public Radio Festival of Brazil, promoted by FM Cultura. Moreover, the samba “Sereia Morena” has been a part of the Coxilha Negra Festival, from Butiá-RS and it is now a part of the compilation cd for the event. The third track from the album, “Cheiro de Mato”, has gotten a music video made by Granada Filmes.
In November of 2012, Tribo Brasil has taken their one of a kind concert outside the country, joining the 5th Brazilian Popular Music Festival in Montevideo. Besides playing in Uruguay's capital, Tribo is often travelling and touring around clubs and theaters from the countryside of Rio Grande do Sul, in cities like Bagé, Praia do Cassino – Rio Grande, Pelotas, Santa Maria, São Leopoldo and Santa Cruz do Sul.
